Welcome to Cleburne, Texas

The theme chosen for the 2011Cleburne Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership Meeting is “New Decade, New Beginnings…”. That is so appropriate as “we” pause and take a second to look around at all the new investment and changes in this place “we” call home.

A growing and thriving community is constantly in the search of new investment into its infrastructure, homes, schools and Cleburne has certainly been moving and raising the bar to meet those challenges. The challenge of striving to always provide for growth and encourage it as well. You’ve heard the old argument of which came first…the chicken…or the egg, well, it’s the same argument with new business investment and the much needed infrastructure to support it. Cleburne has been fortunate to realize its share of business growth, some because of previous investments and other growth that causes “us” to fulfill some vital needs. With the seeds that were planted by numerous community leaders, some many years ago and others just in the past few years, Cleburne will continue to be and become an even greater focal point for vibrant growth.

However…you can have all the infrastructure and added appeal that “location, location, location” can bring, but as I mentioned in the second sentence, you’ve got to have that one extra piece…and that piece is “a place to call home”. Something that is rare in many cities, Cleburne still possesses a true sense of community and at the very root - a common goal to continue to make Cleburne a great place to live and raise families and allow businesses to flourish.

So…”we” encourage others to visit “us” in this town, this community of Cleburne. A community of new beginnings in this new decade!

Ambassadors

The members of the Ambassadors Club of the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce are business leaders in the community. They are volunteers who act as public relations representatives on behalf of the Chamber at business openings, ribbon cuttings, ground breaking ceremonies, special events and other chamber related activities. They take time from their busy schedules to welcome new businesses into the city of Cleburne and outlying areas, sometimes as often as 2 or 3 times a week.  They want to insure that the new businesses know the Chamber of Commerce is there to help them spread the word about their business and location. Ambassadors want to welcome and thank the business for becoming a new Chamber Member and thank them for choosing Cleburne as the City to operate their business in.

The Ambassadors can be easily identified at Chamber functions. Simply look for the folks wearing Red Jackets. They stand ready to welcome you and assist you in any way. Being an Ambassador does require giving of your time each week to attend ribbon cuttings and other events. However, as Ambassadors we are often some of the first folks to meet the new business owners in the community. We find great pleasure in assisting new members and enjoy the opportunity to be of service to them.

The Ambassadors Club started back in the late 1960s. At first it was a club for men only who wore gold jackets with black pants. These men were owners of their own businesses. One of the members, John Butner, voted to allow women into the Club and also later voted to allow a representative of the business to be a Club member as well as the owner.

Currently the Cleburne Chamber Red Coat Ambassadors are comprised of less than twenty very dedicated members. To keep it fun and challenging, we are divided in to two teams. The team captains keep us informed of upcoming events and keep us motivated. We love what we do and enjoy being the public relations representatives for the chamber.

If you love meeting people and have a heart devoted to Cleburne, you might want to be a Red Coat Ambassador. Give the chamber a call for more information 817-645-2455.
