It’s hard to believe we will be honoring graduates in just a handful of days as we mark the end of another school year—which has flown by at lightning speed.

This has to be one of the most exciting school years in our District’s 130-plus year history. From the opening of the new Cleburne High School, to national recognitions for several campuses to the establishment of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology Fabrication Lab for our high school engineering students, it’s been an amazing year for Cleburne schools.

Commencement ceremonies for our TEAM School graduates will take place May 23 at 5 p.m. at The Heights Church. We will be honoring the Cleburne High School Class of 2019 in exercises May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at The Depot. Information for those attending the event is posted on the District website, www.c-isd.com. We are very grateful to the City of Cleburne and The Railroaders for partnering with us as we celebrate the achievement of our CHS graduates.

Seven Cleburne ISD campuses have been named Capturing Kids’ Hearts Showcase Schools for 2018-19, led by Coleman Elementary which is achieving this recognition for the second consecutive year. Also receiving the honor are Adams, Irving, Marti and Santa Fe Elementary Schools and Smith and Wheat Middle Schools. These campuses will now serve as models of “high-achieving centers of learning” reflecting and practicing the Capturing Kids’ Hearts philosophy: “If you have a child’s heart, you have their mind.” Showcase Schools are those where students feel connected to their teachers and classmates and feel valued. This is a tremendous achievement at the national level and we couldn’t be more proud.

As we look forward to the next school year, we are excited about our new tuition-based pre-kindergarten program starting in 2019-20 that will make early education open to all four-year-olds. The new school year will also see our Two-Way Dual Language classrooms at Irving Elementary expanding to the second grade as current participants promote, and kindergarten participants begin their education journey, learning in both English and Spanish.

Thank you to our students, staff, parents, trustees, campus volunteers, Adopt-A-School partners and our community for your efforts and support in making 2018-2019 a memorable year, and a great school year. Excellence Happens Here—because of you.
